Why I love To Trade Questioning the reasons why you do what you do is one of the most empowering questions you can ask yourself. This, incidentally holds true for pretty much everything you do in life, and is not only relevant to your job as a trader. It pertains to your love life, your hobbies, in short: every thing you do, Most of us spend two thirds of our waking life at work. Telling yourself that you are paying the bills with your job really is not good enough. It is nothing short of admitting that you are a slave to a system that has conditioned you to believe that you have to do any old job and many other things in order to get by and be an accepted member of society. Conformity is not a trait of mastery, or happiness... It never has been and never will be. In order to get in touch with your deepest needs ask yourself empowering questions and as I have already mentioned asking yourself why you do things is very empowering. A definition of love is... ...what you are willing to give up for it. The universe is basically an exchange mechanism. There is a specific amount of energy in the cosmos which cannot be added to or subtracted from. It soon becomes apparent that you will have to give up something in order to gain something else. This may sound rather like a paradox when we are told that the universe is infinitely abundant. Yet, on closer examination this is not so. The stage of life is set with wide rules You are the interpreter of the plays of your life. Yes, there are limitations, the amount of energy available is one of them. Yet with universal parameters there is so much scope, more than you could ever envisage with your limited mind, no matter how open minded or enlightened you may be. So, Why am I telling you all this? The reason is simply this, on the quest for finding my life's passion I had to unlearn old limitations and find new ways of understanding myself and my needs. When I began trading I had in mind the idea that I could make lots of money with relatively little effort. while at the same time being totally self reliant. I like the idea of freedom and trading to me was the way to freedom. Since these early days and many years of personal development later I have come to understand that to me trading is the vehicle through which I can get in touch with my true self. Trading has been and is my biggest teacher. On the path to trading success I have endured many a failure. Often I was close to giving up. I suffered with extreme anxiety and was on the verge of a break down more than once as I hit upon one unexpected psychologic block after another, not to mention financial problems. Freedom is the ultimate goal There were times when I thought that I would never make the grade. My lack of confidence and seeming inability to turn my vision into reality often got the better of me. On occasion I felt that I had a split personality. On the one hand I knew it was possible to make money trading, yet psychological blocks stopped me from making money. I loved the markets and always have done, from a very young age. As a 12 year old I already had a fascination with the stock market. Nothing though could have prepared me for the journey to successful trading. Yet, when I look back now the one thing I love about the markets more perhaps than anything is their ability to teach. Without my chosen path there is no way that I would be who I am today. The challenges on the way made me wiser and opened up my awareness of myself beyond anything I dreamt was possible. The person who is writing this article today is a very different person from the one who decided 10 years ago to make a living from trading. One thing that never changed was my need for freedom. I believe to this day, as I did 10 years ago that trading is the most interesting vehicle to enjoy ultimate freedom. My trading allows me to spend a few hours in front of the computer every day and trade the markets of my choice. Then I can do all the other things I so enjoy doing, Writing about what I learned through trading is a way of expressing myself and helping others I enjoy writing, but I do not believe in general Internet marketing, hence I could never earn a decent lving this way. I do not believe in brainwashing people into buying products by bombarding them with countless e-mails. When someone is ready they will act. Trading allows me to help others Writing a newsletter, and operating this web site are a joy to me. It certainly does not pay me a living. Trading does that for me. However. if I can help some of you with what I have learned and you have happier, more fulfilled lives as a result, that is a great compensation for the effort that goes into operating this web site. It is my way of giving something back and trading allows me to do this. Learning something new every day from my trading keeps me connected In my daily mantra I say that | learn from all my trades, wining and losing trades, I forgot to add that I also learn from the trades I do not take... Life is about being open and learning and actively participating. Trading has taught me this truism more than anything else in life. Trading is my task master, it is my guide that lets me know when I am not in touch with myself and my environment. Trading helps me to grow, become a stronger and a better person. On the path I am learning enlightenment, yet by far the biggest thing is this: Trading is making me a better person. By this I mean, it is teaching me the values of staying power, endurance, calm detachment, non judgement and relationships, thus making me a more valuable member of society, as it enables me to contribute. And finally, to sum it all up... I love the markets: They are alive, they move, they have soul. The markets are my partner and my mirror. They are an expression of the universe.,.They are the medium through which I choose to express myself and grow.
